A New Branch Tradition|Mock Butterfingers {Louisiana Photographer}

Recently a friend introduced us to one of the best things I’ve ate in quite a while. ….mock Butterfingers! You have to try these. They are made with wheat thins. I love butterfingers but I think I may like the mock version even more. I hate how the real butterfingers get stuck in my teeth when I eat them, the mock ones don’t. Maybe them sticking to my teeth is a good thing, a deterrent to not eat so many. LOL

I had good intentions to take a few pics of them to put with this blog post but alas they were eaten so fast I wasn’t given the chance. I think I need to make another batch for photos. :) They are for sure a new Branch tradition.

Here is the recipe. Come back and let me know if you love them as much as I do.

xoxo,

Kyla

MOCK BUTTERFINGERS

Ingredients
1 (10 oz.) box original Wheat Thins crackers
1 cup creamy peanut butter
16 ounces dipping chocolate or almond bark

Directions
Sandwich about 1/2 teaspoon peanut butter between two Wheat Thins crackers; repeat until all crackers have been used.  Melt chocolate in microwave at 50 percent power for one minute; stir.  Return to microwave at 30 second intervals until chocolate is completely melted and smooth.  Dip cracker “sandwiches” in chocolate to coat.  Set on wax paper.  Place in refrigerator or freezer for 10-15 minutes to set completely.  Store in an airtight container.

I had a chance to make a few more today…….. for a picture. ;)

Its a New Year {Kyla Branch Photography|Rayville, LA}

The kids had a blast popping fireworks last night. We always get them new years day in hopes that they will be a little cheaper. :) The big boys (Tim and his brother Aaron) always pass it off as something the kids love, but don’t let them lie to you. They are just as happy to play with fire! In fact, towards the end when the kids started loosing interest, and everyone was getting cold, Tim thought it would be a stellar idea to just throw them in the fire pit and see what happened. Well needless to say I didn’t condone what he was doing, but I had my camera ready “just in case”. I would take a picture then hide behind the shed. LOL These have to be some of my favorites. The fire looked like lava blowing out from all sides of the pit. Kids don’t try this at home. Ask Tim what the nice big black spot is on his glasses when you see him. Yep, playing with fireworks=pain. All in all a good time was had by all. What a wonderful way to start off our 2011. Hope your new year is filled with love, and happiness!

60 Years Together {Delhi, LA.|Family Photographer}

60 years is a huge accomplishment these days. I am proud to say my grandparents made it! We held a surprise party for them, all they knew is they were meeting my parents to go out to eat. My guess is when the limo pulled up they had an idea of what might have been happening. The look on my grandmothers face brought tears to my eyes when she saw her sisters had made the long drive to celebrate with she and my papaw.  My mother told a story that she had heard of how my grandmother would turn cartwheels when my papaw would drive by on his tractor to get his attention.  LOL My Aunt Ann recalled their wedding day….as I looked around the room I thought, wow there sure are a lot of us who wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for these two people. I for one am very grateful!  Memaw and pawpaw as I was putting together your slide show I realized a sad thing…I have hardly any picutres of us together. That all changed the night of your party. I have a picture  of you and I Memaw that I will treasure forever! I hope your party will stand out as a wonderful memory and you will know just how much we all love yall! Congrats!

Love,

Kyla
